MOSTe January 2024 Newsletter

Dear MOSTe Family,

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays, and that you are beginning 2024 full of energy, intention, and excitement.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to our year-end fundraising drive! We raised over $22,000 to support a great 2024, filled with college tours, exciting collaborations, and another Annual Retreat weekend at the coast – none of which would be possible without you.

The fruits of our work were on abundant display at last Saturday’s Homecoming Brunch in Hollywood. My heart filled with joy to see all the young women, many of whom I have known since middle school, now thriving at college, crushing it in graduate school, or launching their bright careers. Our MOSTe alumnae are flourishing in fields from medicine to art, child development to business and beyond. The buzz as they connected and shared their accomplishments was electric!

The happy event was a perfect moment to introduce Nicole Fisher, the bright young leader who will become MOSTe’s next Executive Director at the end of this month.

Nicole is a native Angeleno, deeply committed to spaces of social impact within education. A first-generation college student, she obtained her B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley, followed by an M.A. in Education from USC.

From her performance days at college to her tenure as a public school educator, Nicole has been dedicated to fostering spaces that empower young women to pursue their passions and embrace their diverse voices and perspectives. She is excited to contribute both her personal and professional experience at MOSTe to uplift and inspire the next generation of female leaders, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to achieve their educational and career goals.

The privilege of leading MOSTe has been one of my proudest achievements, and I am so grateful to all the scholars, mentors, and supporters I have met through this powerful organization. As I move on to my next chapter, I look forward to cheering on the continued success of Nicole and MOSTe.

Onward,

Amy Ludwig
Executive Director

Girls, Gratitude, and Gifts
December 2, 2023

MOSTe rounded out the year celebrating the dedication of our amazing mentors with a holiday crafting event. Scholars, their families and mentors came together to create ornaments, paint cards, decorate cookies, design vision boards, and make holiday memories. We are excited for the upcoming year and to continue supporting our scholars and mentors in their commitment to growth.

“I took Jazmin and Hennessy to Disneyland.  Jazmin had never been.  We had a sleepover in Anaheim the night before. Here’s a couple of photos from our Disneyland Adventure.”  – Mentor Terry

“We had our holiday sleepover party. Went swimming, to dinner and to the Grove.” – Mentor Kelli

“We made a chocolate cake from scratch! Melz learned how to measure and bake, then we went to lunch and discussed her future plans.” – Mentor Carrie

“Sherlyn, Frances, Evelyn, Emily, and I attended the MOSTe Girls, Gratitude, & Gifts. The scholars and I loved making the mini wreaths that we later hung on our Christmas Tree.  During the activities, we shared how MOSTe has helped us connect with each other, as well as helping them reach their college goals.” – Mentor Elba
