      Mentee - Dominique

Dominique, a senior at Pasadena High School who joined MOSTE as a 7th grader at Wilson Middle School in Pasadena, will complete six years in the program when she graduates this June. In the time she participated in MOSTE, Dominque blossomed into a strong community activist who not only strives for academic excellence and success but also remains a vital part of her school's sports and leadership. She’s the leader in the group that younger girls look to as a model of their MOSTE experience. Indeed, her sister Chantelle followed in her footsteps and also is an active member of MOSTE. With strong volunteer support from MOSTE, she has emerged as a top performer in a wide variety of endeavors. With help from MOSTE, she learned about AFS and selected for a scholarship to spend a summer in New Zealand. She joined and quickly became a valuable member of her school's water polo team when she didn’t even know how to swim, putting in hours of early morning practice each day. She speaks on behalf of MOSTE at donor meetings, led a community service project called Operation Change that provided support for a local homeless shelter, and the list goes on. Dominique is hoping to go to Barnard College in New York City.
