Kristin, a senior at King-Drew Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles who joined MOSTE when she was in 7th grade at Cochran Middle School, capitalized on the opportunity to let someone into her life who would give her feedback and provide a different view of the world around her. Kristen and her mentor couldn’t be more different, but they bonded quickly and the relationship flourishes to this day. In the program, Kristin has attended weekend retreats, academic and social skill-building workshops, cultural events, and numerous college tours, including a three-day Northern California tour. In fact, it was MOSTE that introduced her to her dream school, Pitzer College. Kristin is a determined and academically prepared student who is keenly aware of her family’s proud college-going tradition. She’s a standout who mentors and tutors young students, volunteers as a Little League football coach and serves as president of her debate club at school. She will graduate in June and hopes to attend Pitzer College.
