MOSTE SCHOLARSHIPS

"The foundation of every state is the education of its youth"

- Diogenes

It is this philosophy that best underscores MOSTE’s unwavering commitment to provide the greatest number of scholarships to the rising stars of its program. Investing in the future of each mentee, her family and her community is at the core of MOSTE’s mission. Scholarships are one component of the lasting legacy MOSTE girls carry with them to the future.

Incentive Scholarship
All graduating eighth grade MOSTE mentees are eligible to apply for the Jacqueline E. Miller Incentive Scholarship. As the name suggests, this scholarship aims to give each recipient an incentive to attend college. The scholarships are held in trust by the California Community Foundation for each recipient until she is accepted for admission at a college.

The Scholarship Committee reviews each applicant’s grade point average, extracurricular activities, community service and a brief essay. While it is the ultimate goal of MOSTE to award a scholarship to every mentee, three to four girls receive the Incentive Scholarship each year.

Achievement Scholarship

The Bernadine Robinson Achievement Scholarship is for alumna of MOSTE who are seniors in high school. Girls who have graduated from the program and are on their way to college are sent applications and encouraged to apply. The application must include at least one letter of acceptance from a college, three references, an explanation of financial need, current grade point average, community service activities and a 500-word essay.
