WELCOME Recognizing the importance of countering these negative pressures that begin early in a girl’s life with positive influences, MOSTE offers middle school girls in the seventh and eighth grades a unique opportunity to be involved in a comprehensive mentoring program that provides the following: (i) a one-on-one mentoring relationship with a female role model, (ii) monthly workshops at their school that address topics such as budgeting, career opportunities, study skills and etiquette and (iii) organized group activities after school and on the weekends such as college tours, career fairs, community service work and a weekend retreat in Malibu. Each year, MOSTE focuses on improving its programming, providing more comprehensive training to its mentors and making more scholarship resources available to its mentees. The sponsors, leaders and mentors of MOSTE believe in the benefits of youth mentoring and are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young women in Southern California. Since its inception in 1986, MOSTE has touched the lives of more than 1,000 girls in the Los Angeles and Pasadena Unified School Districts and is a highly sought after extracurricular activity in the schools served.
